Relief for Flat Feet
If you have flat feet, they can certainly cause you pain and keep you from enjoying summer fun. Like hiking the Hopalong Cassidy Trail—named for one the most well-known residents in Palm Desert’s history. It’s an easy climb with plenty of picturesque spots along the way, but if your dogs are barking, it’s probably not on your list of things to do, and that’s a shame. Don’t miss out on the fun. Get some relief for flat feet with these helpful exercises:
Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Then, flex your toes up so that they are in the air. Next take your big toe and place it on the floor and lift it back up, try to do this with your remaining toes one by one as well.
Next, take handballs and place them under your heels. While standing, switch the weight between your left and right foot. After three minutes of doing this, slide the balls forward so that they are under your arches and repeat this sequence. Be mindful to keep your feet flexed and stretched throughout the exercise.
Besides exercises, orthotic devices can drastically reduce flatfoot pain as well. These shoe inserts can provide much needed support for your arches as well as help distribute your weight evenly, which reduces pressure and soreness.
