Q What is bursitis?
If you have been dealing with pain in the joints of your feet or ankles, it could possibly be from a condition called bursitis. A bursa is a small, fluid-filled sac that acts as a cushion where ligaments and tendons pass over the bones of a joint. Repeated pressure from doing the same movement over and over can irritate or inflame the bursa and may be the reason for your discomfort.
Contact us if you have swelling, inflammation, warmth in the area, stiff joints, weakened muscles around a joint, and increased pain in the morning or after you have been still for awhile. If we confirm that bursitis is the cause for your pain, we can provide you with a treatment plan tailored to your lifestyle and the severity of your symptoms. We may use a combination of rest, icing, anti-inflammatory medications, laser therapy, injections, physical therapy, and custom orthotics. We can also provide you with effective ways to prevent this condition from happening again.
If you are experiencing these symptoms in a foot or ankle, don’t wait to get treatment that will help. You can reach Harvey R. Danciger, DPM by calling our Palm Desert, CA office at (760) 568-0108.
