Causes of Toe Pain
If you have some free time this fall and would love to celebrate the life of someone who has battled cancer, or join the fight against this disease, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life is for you! This popular event is taking place in Palm Desert, CA from October 19th-20th, 2013. Get involved, support a great cause, and get fit at the same time!
Runners often experience foot problems, including toe pain. Don’t let this discomfort keep you from participating in a worthy cause. Find the root of the pain, and begin treatment in our office right away.
Even though your toes are small, each and every joint is important to the overall function and health of your foot. Imagine the amount of stress they face each day. Don’t ignore signs of trouble--quick action will lead to faster relief and a return to your normal routine.
If your big toe is the main cause of your discomfort, there are two common reasons. The first is a condition called hallux limitus. It is most often caused by an abnormal foot anatomy that leaves the big toe joint stiff and painful. Another cause of big toe pain is gout. This is a complex form of arthritis that can result in sharp, sudden pain, inflammation and swelling--often jolting you out of bed in the middle of the night.
Other causes of pain in the toe include hammertoe, bunions, bursitis, Morton’s neuroma, sprain and stress fracture. If you have pain, it is important to remember that many of these conditions are degenerative, meaning they will only get worse over time. Don’t wait until that happens. Allow Dr. Harvey Danciger to pinpoint the cause and start effective treatment immediately. Call our podiatric office in Palm Desert, CA at (760) 568-0108 to make an appointment today. Your toes will thank you!
