  • How does laser therapy for foot pain work?

Laser therapy for foot pain relieves symptoms while at the same time, encourages repair and renewal of damaged cells. This allows you to heal more comfortably and quickly from a host of conditions and injuries. Here’s how it works:

A specific wavelength of light is used to pinpoint problem areas, harmlessly passing through your skin directly to the damaged tissues beneath. When the light energy arrives at its targeted location, it stimulates cell activity there, boosting healing properties, promoting new healthy cell growth, and encouraging your body to fight the inflammation. Swelling is reduced, thus, so is your foot pain, and damaged cells are eventually replaced with healthy ones.

This innovative, non-invasive treatment has no side effects and it can be done quickly and painlessly right here in our office. In addition, laser therapy for foot pain requires no down time, so you can go right back to your normal activities.

No one should ever suffer with foot pain. Call us and find out if laser therapy could help you improve your quality of life. Dial (760) 568-0108 to reach our Palm Desert, CA office today.

  • What types of conditions does laser therapy help?

Laser therapy—we use the MLS Laser system in our office—has shown to be effective in a wide variety of foot and ankle conditions, including:

    • Arthritis
    • Bursitis
    • Neuropathy and nerve damage
    • Plantar fasciitis
    • Tendonitis
    • Sports injuries, including sprains and strains
    • Wounds

You’ll notice a lot of “-itis” words in that list—that suffix usually means the condition involves tissue inflammation, which laser therapy is especially good at treating. However, laser therapy has also proven helpful for situations as diverse as closing wounds, eliminating scar tissue, promoting faster healing, and even restoring nerve function. That’s because the wavelengths of light used by the system energize your body’s own natural healing processes by stimulating cellular activity.

Laser therapy is FDA approved and non-invasive. For more information or to set up an appointment with Dr. Danciger in Palm Desert, CA, please fill out and submit our online contact form, or give us a call at 760-568-0108.

  • What can I expect from fungal nail laser treatment?

As with any new technology, you might be a little worried about what to expect with laser treatment for fungal nails. We understand! The good news is that you have very little to worry about.

The treatment itself involves usually. A typical treatment course involves 6 sessions, each lasting about 10-40 minutes at our office, depending on how many toenails need treatment. The laser is harmless to you but deadly to the fungi that live under your toenail—the wavelength of light we use passes straight through your toenail but hits the infection hard.

You may feel a slight warming sensation during the procedure, but there should be no pain or discomfort whatsoever. Unlike with oral medication, you shouldn’t experience any side effects either.

Although you’ll have to wait 6-12 months for a new, healthy nail to fully push out the damaged portion, most people experience obvious improvement in the color and quality of their nails after just a few sessions.

If you’re suffering from fungal toenails and think laser therapy might be right for you, contact Harvey R. Danciger, DPM for an appointment today. You can do so online, or call us at 760-568-0108.
