There are many different types of arthritis that one can see in their feet and ankles. Arthritis can affect any part of your body. One of the most common types of arthritis that we see is a wear and tear type of arthritis in the foot and ankle, called “osteoarthritis”. As most people are aware, rheumatoid arthritis can affect the joints all over your body, including the foot and the ankle, causing significant pain and deformity.
Another type of arthritis is from psoriasis, causing “psoriatic arthritis” in your feet and ankles. Another type of arthritis, secondary to gout, can occur, where the joints are damaged due to the urate crystals that form in the joints, causing an arthritic formation in the joints. This happens because the cartilage, the smooth surface between two bones that makes up the joints, becomes eroded.
These are just some of the most common forms of arthritis that we typically see in our office, but there are many others as well. Don’t delay in seeking treatment from our friendly office staff today!
